This has been a productive and rewarding year for my growth as an academic neurosurgeon. I have gone from being a resident with some interest in research to an investigator with much larger ideas and ambitions. I am greatly appreciative of how the NREF has set my career on its current trajectory and look forward to encouraging others to follow this path.
