Chair's Message
Dear Friends & Colleagues,
The Neurosurgery Research & Education Foundation (NREF) depends on member neurosurgeons, institutions, corporations and the public to advance the future of neurosurgery. Your generosity helps the NREF accomplish its mission of providing a private, non-governmental source of funding for research and training in neurosciences.
In addition, the NREF has created partnerships with private foundations and affiliated organizations both in the U.S. and abroad.
Along with the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), the NREF is pleased to announce the return of the resident course exchange with the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS). The first resident course exchange will take place in Edinburgh, Scotland, next January. Additional courses will be offered in May and September 2024.
In collaboration with the AANS/CNS Section on Tumors, the NREF awarded research grants for the 2023-24 academic year sponsored by the Gladiator Project, the Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation (SBTF) and the American Academy of Neurological Surgery.
The NREF is grateful to these organizations, their leadership and their supporters for directing donations to research programs and educational initiatives, and for the confidence our partners place in the NREF helping them achieve their organizational goals.
The support of affiliated organizations increases our ability to serve our members, and ultimately, make a difference in the lives of our patients.
If you are working with an industry group or foundation and are interested in collaborating with the NREF, we welcome your input. Please don’t hesitate to contact me or a member of the NREF staff at info@nref.org. We look forward to working hand-in-hand with you to increase funding for education and research, while ultimately improving neurosurgical patient care.
To make a tax-deductible donation, please visit our secure online Donate page.
Your gift will enhance neurosurgeons’ ability to treat patients and keep our specialty on the cutting edge of medicine. Let’s work together to enable our patients to live their lives as they wish.
Sincerely,

Adam S. Arthur, MD, MPH, FAANS
