DSPN Honor Your Section Fund
Fund Purpose: The Honor Your Section Fund invites DSPN Spine Section members to give back to the specialty. Contributions support section-designated research initiatives, educational programming, and other priorities that advance the field and strengthen our community — ensuring that the work we value most continues to grow for generations of spine surgeons to come.

The AANS/CNS Section on Disorders of the Spine and Peripheral Nerves is dedicated to advancing spinal neurosurgery and related sciences through education, clinical research, and improved patient care.
The Section was founded in 1978 at the suggestion of Albert L. Rhoton, MD in 1978 to Charles Drake, MD, President of AANS. Stewart B. Dunsker, MD and Russell Travis, MD were also instrumental in establishing the section.

For nearly fifty years, section members have created a vibrant, diverse community in the ongoing pursuit of improving spinal neurosurgery. They’ve enjoyed the benefits of membership, from advancing the field of neurosurgery to networking with like-minded colleagues to being involved in education and advocacy.
To continue advancing spine and peripheral nerve patient care through education, research and advocacy, DSPN has created this fund to support section-designated research initiatives, educational programming, and other priorities that advance the field and strengthen our community.
With your support, the section will continue to fulfill our objectives:
- To foster the use of spinal neurological methods for the treatment of diseases of the spinal neural elements, the spine and peripheral nerves.
- To advance spinal neurosurgery and medical sciences, to improve patient care, to support meaningful basic and clinical research, to provide leadership in undergraduate and graduate continuing education, and to promote administrative facilities necessary to achieve these goals.
The section brings together neurosurgeons, orthopedic spine surgeons, spine surgery fellows, as well as residents and advanced practice providers focused on spinal surgery. The section advances our interests, represents us in national advocacy, and disseminates science.
Becoming a donor means this exceptional community will continue to flourish and advance our specialty.
