Neurosurgery Champions Funds recognize the friends, colleagues, sections and organizations whose efforts have made an indelible impact on AANS, organized neurosurgery and the medical profession. Your gift will support and advance neurosurgical research and educational initiatives while honoring and celebrating the work of individuals and organizations that champion the future of the specialty.

AANS/NREF Diversity Fund
Fund Purpose: To support initiatives that promote and strengthen diversity, equity, and inclusion within AANS and the broader neurosurgical community.

Beth Sartore Scholarship Fund
Fund Purpose: To support professional development opportunities for association staff and advance professional practice in association management and non-profit/foundation management.

Groff Family Memorial Fund
Fund Purpose: To provide support to students interested in attending the AANS Annual Scientific Meeting and other programs in honor of the family’s long-standing commitment to education, research, innovation and collaboration.

Justin Singer Memorial Fund
Fund Purpose: To honor Dr. Singer’s legacy and contributions to the specialty of neurosurgery.

Margie Shreve/JNSPG Development Fund
Fund Purpose: To create and/or enhance publishing opportunities and programs within the JNSPG.

Pediatric Section Education and Research Fund
Fund Purpose: To support the Pediatric Section’s mission to advance education, research, and patient care in the area of pediatric neurosurgery.

Regis Haid Leadership Fund
Fund Purpose: To support leadership development and executive training, education and coaching for neurosurgeons at all stages of their careers

SNS-Neurosurgeon-Scientist Training Program (NSTP) Fund
Fund Purpose: To support research awards to neurosurgical residents selected for the Society of Neurological Surgeons’ Neurosurgeon-Scientist Training Program (NSTP). Funding may also cover travel awards.

The Society of University Neurosurgeons Traveling Fellowship Fund
Fund Purpose: To support candidate members, guests, and invited individuals to attend the annual SUN meetings, particularly those traveling internationally.

Veena D. Mummaneni, MD Fund
Fund Purpose: To fund an Award for outstanding woman resident or fellow to present a top-rated abstract at the AANS Annual Scientific Meeting.

William P. Van Wagenen Fellowship
Fund Purpose: To support promising residents in their pursuit of the William P. Van Wagenen Fellowship and to continue Dr. Van Wagenen’s mission and legacy.
A donation in honor of a Neurosurgery Champion allows the NREF to continue providing research grants and educational opportunities to talented young physicians, medical students and neurosurgery professionals who are determined to advance the field of neurosurgery.
